Two of her plays will be showcased with the LA 2Cent's Theatre Group's Acting Out INK Fest, March 17-19, 2017!

Both of these plays premiered in NYC with the  New York New Works Theatre Festival, curated by Gene Fisch, Jr. (producer of HIGH on Broadway, which starred Kathleen Turner)!

Under the panel of industry heavy-hitters in both LA and NYC, her plays advanced to the semi-finals and finals and have received interest to be developed into larger projects!

PROTECT THE CHILDREN, 2016.

Synopsis: Kendra protects precious collateral for those who’ve made criminal deals they weren’t prepared to handle; until she faces the dilemma of wanting to keep something for herself and ending her life of secrecy and fantasy. Or is she simply creating a new fantasy? Who's actually protecting who, or is it all a facade? And how do we cope in a world filled with violence, mistrust, and greed?

 PASSAGE, 2015.

Passage explores the  questions of what completes us as human beings, spirituality, and the power of our sexuality.

Synopsis: A man ready to die views death (and life) differently after an encounter with the woman hired to euthanize him on the night he plans to die.

Mara has been cast in the SAG feature, La Maestra, about the struggles of a sex addicted woman turning to prostitution. The short film version of the story won the best dramatic film award at Peekskill Film Festival 2015. It is written and directed by Nico Martinez.

What's Left (a short film),which Mara wrote, produced, and starred in, made it to the Semi-Finals of The NexTV Entertainment's Indie Short Film Competition, for potential distribution and expansion of the project! She would like to adapt the script into a full-length feature within the next year. 

This film also won a prestigious Award of Merit for Artistic and Technical Achievement with the March 2016 Best Shorts Competition. 

Synopsis: A young woman in prison for manslaughter is involved in a pen-pal relationship with a young man, who's fiancée has been killed. Both are in search of peace and redemption, but must let go of their pasts, together, for better or worse. 

The film explores the questions: How do you move forward from the worst thing you've ever faced? If you can forgive, what's left? 

It is inspired by Mara's real life experience working with incarcerated men, women, and teens.
